Speaking From the Past

We will be discussing people from the past. These people will include explorers, schientists, Presidents, etc... When the discussion is completed, it should take about one class period, I will circulate a list of people from the past and students can choose one person, research this person and create a speech that this person might have given.
Throughout history there have been fireside chats, debates, interviews, and other forms of media used to allow us to learn about the past. My students will decide if they want to be addressing a group in an auditorium, be interviewed, or possibly doing a follow up speech on a debate.
When students have their speeches completed they will get a partner to video them. They will be given an opportunity to be videoed and make changes, then present the video to the rest of the class.
Items I will be looking for are if the student identified with their historical figure, was their information accurate, were they able to relate their information back to the class. I will look at how creative students were with their videos. Did they dress appropriately for the given time period, did they use a backdrop, and am I able to picture this student as the person they are portraying.
