Lesson Plan
Objectives: Increase reading fluency and comprehension skills Guided reading instructions Using differentiate reading groups
Materials Flip cameras (one for each group) Reading group activity sheets Marker Construction paper Glue Scissors
Directions: The teacher will use Flip Cameras for each reading group. Teacher will also model (how to do the reading activity) for the students.
To help build reading fluency the first activity of reading group: 1 minute partner fluency read. Each partner will read for 1 minute. The other partner will time and record the student thats reading using the Flip Camera.
Then the students will rotate into reading groups:
Group 1 ---retelling of the weekly story using Story Triaramas= this activity will demonstrate story comprehension. Students will create 3-dimensional triangle to create a retelling of the story.
Group 2 ----The students will create a song to retell the story. They will record their creating process as well as the finish product . Group 3---- The students will create a play to retell the story. They will record their creating process as well as the finish product.
Group 4 -----Students will create a retelling apron. The students will retell the story by drawing and/or writing about the elements of a story: characters, plot, problem and solution. They will record their creating process as well as the finish product.
Students will use Flip Cameras to share video clips retelling of the story to the class.
The students will create Photo Stories using the information from each groups Flip Camera.
The following information will be included in the Photo Story: Reading strategies Verbal explanation of the content of the activities
The Photo Story and Flip Camera clips will be used as Bell Ringers to review reading strategies. |
