Students will learn what the components of physical fitness are. Students will be tested over the components and make an assessment of their level of fitness. Students will discuss the importance of being physically fit. Students will learn major bones. Students will learn major muscles involved in movement. Students will learn about the Basic Health Food Groups. Students will keep a journal of foods they eat and what "who", "go", and "slow" foods are. Students will create a personal word bank (consisting of 50 words). Students will then come up with a rap song or poem using their "healthy words." Students will practice all warm-up exercises listed in the textbook. Students will practice all the indoor/outdoor exercises listed in the textbook. Students will now pick their 10 favorite warm-up exercises. Students will also pick their 25 favorite indoor/outdoor exercises. Students will now begin to organize their own workout program. Students will need to keep in mind what fitness components they are using and what benefits each exercise has on improving those components. Students will be videotaped while going through what we will call "their typical workout". These need to be done at least 2-3 days per week . Students will be graded on Give your first and last name. Introduction: I am about to begin my workout for today. First, I will warm-up with the following exercises. Give the reasons why it is important to warm-up. Let's get started. (perform warm-up exercises.) Now, I have completed my warm-up. Now, let's begin our workout. (perform 25 indoor/outdoor exercises.) That concluded my workout for the day. Now I need to cool down. Explain why it is important to cool down. See you tomorrow and have a great day! |

My goal is to make the students aware of the concerns of the physical fitness levels of all children and what they can do to improve their levels and to become aware of the impact of what they do now will play a big factor in what happens down the road (example to live a longer life and may help cut down on health issues as they become adults.) |
