Day1:
Students will work in pairs to show an understanding of making equal groups for an end of unit performance assessment.

Each group of 2-3 students will have a bag filled with note cards that have different equal group scenarios to make.
They will read each note card and find objects around the room to make their equal groups.
Ex. 5 groups of 2: Students will read the card and decide as a group what items to use. One group used book bags to show 5 groups of 2 that equals 10.

They will then use the flip cam to record each other reading the card WITH the answer as well as recording their equal groups that they have put together.
If any group finishes ahead of time, there are extra note cards on my table with stars on them for extension.
*Make sure you write down the students’ names and what camera they had on Day 1 so it will be less setup time on Day 2.

Day 2:
Using laptop computers, and flip cams, the students will watch the teacher as she creates a movie from her flip cam. (Our computers are connected to our t.v.'s which makes this step easy.)
Next, they will work in their groups on individual laptops, step-by-step in creating their very own video from the clips they made during Day 1. The teacher will walk the students through each step if needed.
If students are ready, they may add credits, introduction and music.
The teacher will help to email the videos to her emails so she can have a copy of all videos. Or you may export the videos and save them on a zip drive.

Comments
The students loved being able to roam the room and use whatever they wanted! They did a great job working together and learning from each other!
Follow-Up
After compiling all group videos into one large video, we will take 1 math period to watch each video and discuss the great things they did!
