Innovative Interests and problem solving skills

In this lesson, students will look at UNESCO's world issues and come up with solutions that they think will contribute to these issues. We will take samples of various area drinking water and use microscopes and resources to determine how to clean water that needs filtration. We will also learn how to grow our own food in a mini garden at school. This lesson plan will take us throughout the year, as they are not easy problems to solve. This will be worked on during the day when students have finished their academic assignments and I will be available as a facilitator. We will take several field trips to different places that we believe the water might be contaminated and speak to several people in the community to help us with this. We definitely need many resources for this lesson plan, as we are basically starting with nothing. Once we have come up with our answers, we will write up a report and submit it to the appropriate pathways.
