Teaching is my PASSION, I was born to teach! I cannot imagine spending my life doing anything else. I want to be a positive influence on the young lives I touch each day. I may not have any idea what my students encounter outside of the school walls each day, so I want to make their time with me count. I need to give them the tools they need to achieve beyond their dreams.
College and Degrees:
I graduated Suma Cum Laude in 1993 from Texas State University, specializing in early childhood education and went on to receive my Master's Degree in Gifted/Talented from University of North Texas in 1999.
Activities:
I love anything outdoors, beaches, hiking, rock climbing, swimming, and relaxing in the sun. In my spare time, I love to spend time with my husband and daughter playing wii, going on walks or listening to my husband sing and play guitar.
Favorite Books:
The Bible, anything by Torey Hayden, educational books, Same Kind of Different as Me, The Shack, children's books: Where the Wild Things Are, Tuesday, Earthquake Terror, etc.
Favorite Quotes:
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Employment History:
I got my first job at age 14, I worked for Friday's as a soup and sandwich girl. It helped me develop my work ethic, and to earn enough money for my first car! Right out of High School, I worked for Estee Lauder at the mall and found that although I loved it, I really wanted to TEACH! Plano ISD, where I had gone to school, became my first employer, which lasted 8 years. My husband was transferred to Houston, Tx. I worked in Katy ISD for 3 years before I had my daughter. I am now in McKinney ISD, and have been here 4 years in my current position.
Why Do I Teach?:
I am an academic coach in a Title 1 school. I work with "at risk" students in grades Kindergarten through 2nd grade that struggle with reading and math.
