Day one: A group discussion will be held to discuss where and what parts of the school the chidren will want to explore. The teacher will explain that we are going to learn more about our school. The teacher will explain to the students that as they choose areas in the school they will use a camera to take pictures fo the school. The teacher will also demonstrate how to use the cameras. She will also tell the students that all of the pictures they take will be used to write a story about their school. Next, the children will discuss what questions they have about their school and what areas of the school are or interest to them is it the gym, office space, other classrooms, hallways, etc.
Day two: Based on the children's questions and areas of interest in the school the children will go in small groups of 3-4 to ask questions to staff and take pictures and the areas of the school they have chosen. Upon returning the classroom the children will have a large group discussion about thier findings. The teachers will record the children's responses and mediate the discussion.
Day three: The teacher will help the children print off their pictuers and glue them to construction paper. The teacher will then ask the child that took the picture to talk about their picture and the questions that they had answered.
