Objectives • Students will create original photography that will communicate a variety of ideas, feelings, and meanings. • Students will select, and prepare an exhibition of their project to be held in the school. • Students will create an original writing piece that compliments their photography and will incorporate the writing into the exhibition Process The student will take many photographs of reflections in and out of the classroom (several examples will be shared). The student will choose four to six photographs that show their feelings and characteristics through reflections. You may use any object that reflects. Examples are: mirrors, car mirrors, hubcaps, water, toasters, cds. Once the student has chosen the photographs that best reflect them, now the opportunity to write about the meaning is before them. The student may choose to write a story or a poem. Remember the piece of writing my compliment the photographs. Encourage the students to be creative and take this project to the next level—challenge their creativity. Assessment Students will be assessed through peer reviews, self assessment and teacher assessment based on the quality of the photographs and how they reflect the writing piece. Alternative Presentations Students may choose to display their photos and writing through frams, books, etc. Resources Here are a couple of sites that will show you some reflective photography.
