Objective: To help students learn to create a digital gift using pictures, voice thread and power point.
Accross the curriculum: Integrates writing with technology, photography and art.
Lesson: Start out with mini lessons on the computer, using power point and voice thread. Teach the students how to create a power point that uses flash intro, how to make it legible and in order, and how to use voice threads and apply them to the power point. Then have the students create a power point on any subject for practice.
Teach the students a mini lesson on writing. Start out by showing different organizational methods for writing, including four square writing, outlines, notes and brainstorming techniques. Brainstorm with the students about themselves and different topics about themselves they can write about. have them organize their thoughts on themselves using any method they choose.
Teach a mini lesson on photgraphy. teach the students how to take a picture, how to choose a good piocture, how to upload the pictures and add them to their powerpoints. Discuss choosing colors that compliment the power point or changing the power point to compliment the pictures. Talk about adding titles and captions.
Timeline for mini lessons: 3 weeks, twice a week.
Project: have student organize their pictures and writing and then create a digital power point. Have them add pictures and captions, words and stories to complete the power point. then have the stduents use voice thread to add words to their power point.
End result: A digital memory. The project can be used for gifts, as a portfolio for school or just as a way to create a story about themselves. |
