Grades 5 through 12

Assign the theme of red and ask the students to shoot an image they like that fits in that theme. The images are all uploaded onto a classroom computer and then projected for the class to see. There is not penalty for not submitting, but many rewards for sharing.

The class discuss what they like about the image and how it uses the elements and principles of art. As the year progresses more and more of the students submit an image for the newest theme and more students volunteer what they like about the work.

We begin by simply stating what a student sees in the new image. The next student volunteers what they see and the class begins to look at the images a little closer each week. Their use of our vocabulary increases and their skills at observation and analysis grow.

The students ask when they will be able to have the next Share day and what the theme is for the next shoot.
