What is perspective or point of view? Creating background information about perspective by challenging your students to use digital photography to create a presentation that illustrates perspective.
Lesson supports: Language Arts Common Core Standards and ISTE Technology Standards
Group Structure: 2 students per group Equipment/Resources: Digital Camera; PowerPoint or Photostory 3 (free download); Small object or toy for each group; microphone optional
Essential Understanding: Different points of view influence how people interpret, evaluate, synthesize, form perceptions, and communicate about people, events and ideas.
Task: Using digital storytelling, teams are to create a 10-15 slide story to illustrate the concept of perspective.
Skills: Planning, revising, editing; explaining, producing, writing descriptive and focused text
1. Students select an object or toy.
2. Students can select from one of two options: a. Set up a scene using the object/toy and photograph the scene from a minimum of 8- 10 points of view b. Photograph the object in a variety of places or settings
3. Create a PowerPoint or Photostory 3 sequence with text and/or voice over to illustrate the object's point of view in each of the scenes or settings.
4. Use this lesson plan as a foundation for encouraging students to explore the concept of point of view/perspectives in cross-content lessons. |
