Science Career Recruitment Video

Project Goals:
-Students will research science career field requirements.
-Students will understand the education requirements for science professions.
-Students will create recruitment video using iMovie.
-Students will display final project on community T.V. station.
-Students will work cooperatively with fellow peers.

The Task:
Science is one of the fastest growing career fields in the world. Students are to work cooperatively in a group of 3-4 to research a science career of interest and create a recruitment video. As a group brainstorm possible science career options and select one of interest. Research the career using a job analysis form (JAF) and the websites available on the form. Based on your research create a recruitment video that encourages high school students to pursue your career field.

The Recruitment Video:
Your video will be created using Tool Factory Movie Maker and will need to include real world photos and videos clips. You must dress the part of your career while filming. When in doubt wear dress clothes! Be sure to include the following in the video:
„± Education required for career (e.g.) high school classes, college major/course of study, college classes, graduate school
„± Job description (e.g.) travel required, working conditions, physical/mental/emotional requirements, future employment outlook, benefits
„± Real world videos and photos
„± 2-5 minutes in length
„± Be creative and have fun with it!

Assessment:
Videos with be worth 80 points and shown in class. Upon showing your video, it is expected that your group answer any questions that arise.
