School: Banning High School, Wilmington, CA
Planned By: Asker-Chipman
Original Author: Asker-Chipman, Wilmington
The students would be divided into groups of four or five students (40 students and 10 flip cameras). They will be given the assignment of creating a 10 minute informational video for students new to ceramics. Teacher will have a list of topics but they can suggest their own for consideration.
Once the topics are picked they will begin to brainstorm and research their topic. Then they will plan their video and write a script. Teacher will assist and approve.
Lessons will be provided on "in camera editing", good filming techniques, etc.
Students will rehearse and then film their videos. Editing can be done in imovie on the classroom Macintosh computers.
Students will present their movies to the rest of the class.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
Writing, collaborating, demonstrating
Follow-Up
Use the videos in the following year to introduce concepts. Then challenge the new year students to create better videos for the next year's new students. It will become a ceramic room tradition.
