Dance students are put into small groups of 4-5.
Beginning classes are to create dance works through photo imaging. Each group in the beginning classes use digital cameras to create dance photos. The groups are to find a variety of settings, costumes, and themes to help create their vision for the dance photos. Each group should make a total of 15 still photo images of dance/dancers. The photos should be creative and artistic, make statements and provoke responses. Dancers could use photoshop or other photo editing programs to enhance the photos. The dance photos are to be saved as JPEG files on a CD or flash drive and are to be presented to the class with use of a computer and projector.
Intermediate and Advanced classes are to create dance works through digital video. Each group in the intermediate and advanced classes use digital cameras to create complete dance/movement pieces. The groups are to find a variety of settings, costumes, music, text, and themes to help create their vision for the digital dance piece. The length of the dance video should be at least 4 minutes. The dance video should be creative and artistic, make statements and provoke responses. Dancers could use windows movie maker or other video editing programs to organize the video. The video is to be saved as a digital file and burned to a DVD; the DVD will be presented to the class with the use of a computer and projector.
