The students working in a team of 2-4 students create a stop motion animation that tells a story.


1. Students learn the basics of stop motion animation by using the program "I Can Animate" Kudlian software.
a. View online video "So you want to make a movie" link below.
b. Show examples of animation from Best of Wallace and Gromit DVD, Especially early animation from Nick Park(creator of Wallace and Gromit) from his work as a child found on DVD.
c. Teach students use of "I Can Animate" software software link below
d. view assorted stop motion animations found online on YouTube checking for appropriateness before student viewing.(ex:http://www.eatpes.com/scrabble.html)

2. Students compose story using a brainstorming sheet to generate ideas
a. No violence, or bloodshed allowed.
b. Students then create a storyboard to layout their idea and filmshooting scenes.

3. Create props and characters for story using found or created objects using a variety of media, clay, construction paper, toys etc.

4. Film movie using "I Can Animate" Software.

5. Import animation to Imovie software and add music created with "Garageband" software.
add titles, credits and voiceovers.

We have one recognition in the Rod Serling Film Festival put on by Binghamton School District, a K-12 National competition. Taking Best K-6 Entry twice.

Follow-Up
All completed films produced are entered in the Rod Serling Film Festival and the students receive a DVD with all the films produced that year by other students in 3rd grade to share with the rest of their grade.
