School: Laguna Beach High School, Laguna Beach, CA
Planned By: bridget porter
Original Author: bridget porter, Laguna Beach
Objectives: Students collaborate with the Drama production of "Hello Dolly" and create artwork that will be featured in the foyer of the theater. Students use the costumes and props from the 1900s to re-create the mood of that time. We study artists like Julia Margaret Cameron, Klimt, and Eugene Atget and others and emulate their style through vintage tutorials in Photoshop.

Materials:
Photo lab equipment
costumes
cameras
student models

Procedure:
1. Students create a rough draft about their idea. Students use other photos and practice vintage photo tutorials. Students complete at least 4 tutorials on split toning, old torn photo overlay, tinting, and black and white vintage effects. Tutorials are on teacher haiku page.
2. Student set up the studio and set up the photo-shoot. Students set up tripods, reflectors, and drop cloths.
3. Models are dressed and arranged. Students are reminded about compositional elements.
4. Students take images and import images on Photoshop.
5. Images are cropped and edited for 4 class periods.
6. Images are voted on and selected by the class. Selected images are printed.
7. Images are titled and matted for art exhibition.
8. Students are in charge of advertising and being docents during the performances.
