Students will be able to:

Learn the correct way to handle a camera
Learn how to take a picture
Take pictures to put into the school yearbook

Begin lesson by asking students what the purpose is of taking pictures. Make a list of all of their ideas. Then ask them why they think it is important to take pictures. Add to the list. Then ask them to tell you about what would be some activities at school that they would want to capture for a yearbook.

After you have a great list of the importance of pictures, have students give you reasons it is important to take good care of a camera. Make a list of "rules" they should follow when handling a camera.

Next, have students practice with the cameras. They will need to practice taking pictures of people. Have them take pictures of people in action, and being still. Candid and posed. After each student has a chance to take several pictures, have the group look at the pictures and give feedback. Is it blurry? Can you see the "subject" you were taking a picture of?

Lastly, let kids check out cameras to start capturing what's happening in the building!
