Writing Objective: students will type 3-10 sentences that they dictate with or without looking at a written model

Reading Objective: students will verbally state or point to pictures (from a field of 3) to state what topic their peers spoke about

Speech: student will verbally read or use assistive technology about a preferred activity, person, thing to their classmates

Technology: students will cut and paste a favorite picture from the internet onto their word document; students will use Smartboard to present their writitng

Introduction: In a small group or with 1:1 support, students will look at pictures on the internet about activities, people, things etc. that they have a strong interest in.

Writing Activity: In small group or with 1:1 support, students will create sentences about their topic. Students are at various levels of independence: some student can write independently but need assistance with grammar and writing mechanics; some students dictate whole sentences or phrases but need to copy from a written sample; some students can pick out pictures to help communicate their writing ideas.

Next students will insert a picture that they think goes best with their chosen topic.

Presentation: Students will present their writing on the Smart Board, using the option to have the computer read their words (many of my students are non-verbal).

Social Skills: Students will clap for their peers.

Assessment: Students will match their peer to the topic they presented from a field of three pictures.
