Process Student are arranged into groups and work together to complete the project Group roles will be assigned by teacher based on data Students will chose a country from a particular unit to research. Students will use given questions to guide research 1. How has geography impacted the development of this country? 2. What major events have shaped the history of this country? 3. How does this country's monuments reflect it history and culture? 4. Describe three major cultural traditions. Students will create a tri-fold poster presenting the research findings Students will brainstorm three "artifacts" to create that they would expect to find in their country. Students must determine how to create the items at their own expense. Students brainstorm one monument to depict or recreate. Students will have access to paper, paint, and drawing supplies. Teacher will scaffold providing guiding and access to research and art supplies Students will give presentations as a history fair set up with small areas around the room. Students will use mini "passports" to take notes and critique others presentations Students will take "tourist" selfies at each "country" Students will share their pictures for the class website's "World Traveler" photo gallery
Assessment Students will be provided with a rubric for self grading (teacher must approve grade) Students will debrief about the process, what they learned, and enjoyed the most Student will view the class website's "World Traveler" photo gallery
Differentiation Students will be grouped according to strengths and needs. Teacher will provide assistance as needed throughout the process |
