Teacher will explain the meaning and purpose of a Public Service Announcement:
What is a Public Service Announcement?
A short, to the point, video that presents a powerful lesson for a targeted audience. PSA’s aim to raise awareness or change public attitude about a social issue or topic.

Teacher and students will discuss a variety of ideas for Public Service Announcements to generate a list of potential topics. Then, students will use digital resources (Chromebook, flip cameras, slides, Wevideo, etc) to create a public service announcement

Question stems to generate conversation can include:
What is an issue that affects a large amount of young people?
Is there a topic that students are afraid to talk about, but affects many?

PSA Assignment:

Your Assignment is to create a PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT about an important topic from the list below: (if you have your own idea, see me!)

Your Video Must:
Tell a story (act it out) to show the problem
Flash words that show the goal
Voiceover (talking or interview) that explains the problem while images show the problem
Voiceover that discusses the issue and facts about the issue (found in researching the topic) while images show the facts and issues
Where to get more info (shown at the end) ex: websites, phone numbers
