The purpose of this project is to fund new headphones for the technology lab in order to provide equal access of technology for all 450 students in the lab. At present, the lab does not have the adequate amount of headphones to supply one set to each computer, so the use of audio-programs that enrich literacy, math, and writing skills are impeded. In addition, the headphones that are available are too large for students in grades kindergarten through third, and they are losing their volume function in one or both earpieces, thus requiring updated headphones. Lastly, the earpiece covers are made from a synthetic foam material which is more conducive to allowing germs to survive than smooth-plastic so replacing them to headphones with smooth-plastic will help decrease the spread of pathogens.
