This is my first fundraiser! I would like purchase an iPad for a student who is nonverbal. My student very bright but unable to interact with students or the curriculum appropriately due to speech limitations. I think the student would greatly benefit from a device to help facilitate communication, social interactions and learning! The device would solely be used as a communicative device and not for games! What I love about the iPad and applications like TouchChat is that they are socially acceptable and easy to use with other programs as the child gets older. The student has also loved using the iPad to communicate during device trials!

Classroom Description: This is a moderate to severe special day class for children with Autism and other developmental delays such as cerebral palsy, down syndrome, Angelman's syndrome, etc. This children are given the opportunity to eat and play with typically developing children through out the day. We focus on early intervention so that eventually our kids can be ready for general education classrooms and meet academic expectations!
