The current goal is for the Westville High School English Department to be able to secure funding for a group of Chromebooks for each of the teachers to use with their classrooms. In the past several years, several software companies have been releasing and creating FREE programs for teachers and students to use in their classrooms to help teach things like reading comprehension and grammar. The Metropolitan School District of New Durham is a small school district with a large low-income population. We are trying to become a 1:1 school district to help bring technology into the classrooms, but funding is always difficult to come by. By securing these laptops, our English teachers will be able to increase reading comprehension scores, Lexile scores, Grammar skills, and general technical competence.
