I am trying to raise funds for my classroom to purchase 17 Digital Cameras with all the accessories ( Batteries, chargers, cords, case) and memory cards .

Students will supplement their learning of the content areas through the use of photography and technology. For Language Arts students will use the camera to capture photographs of letters and words around them in their neighborhood. In addition , students will take pictures of images they find appealing and write stories about them such as a boy playing basketball on the courts, or students in the park, or a squirrel climbing a tree, the fire engines going down the block, the neighbor that is outside sweeping, the baker who is baking cupcakes, the crossing guard crossing the students, the police officer directing traffic. They will also take photographs of things that begin with certain letters or sounds and make a photographic exhibition from them. They will also go around the neighborhood taking pictures of numbers on the buildings, signs, cars, houses and anywhere else you can find numbers. Students will also take photographs of objects in groups. They will use the cameras to take photographs of the different structures and architecture of their neighborhood and use it to go back into the classroom to build structures which resemble their pictures. In Science students will be able to observe and predict various phenomena related to Science, like various leaves and trees and how the seasons change, They can photograph shadows and how they change during the day, they can photograph weather and how people dress in the various seasons. They can photograph changes in growth of things like plants, flowers, animals and people. This is only a sample of the multitude of hands on fun activities I plan on using the camera with my students to enhance their love and joy of learning. I believe that all children should have as many experiences as they can and they learn and achieve through immersion rather than isolation. I believe students should be active learners and learn better by going out into the world around them so they can also see how their learning applies to life in general, not just within the walls of the classroom. Throughout the year parents, community members, civil leaders and various other groups will be invited in the classroom for our photography exhibition of learning.
