Did you know that students learn and understand better using online, interactive programs? Simulations are powerful tools for effective instruction proven by research. For the past 5 years, our students have thrived navigating through the rigorous Ohio Science Standards. Our students were so successful that neighboring districts wondered what was that extra detail we were using that they weren't. Explore Learning, Gizmos is the answer. In conjunction with Pearson Learning, Explore Learning is a program which develops online learning solutions to improve student learning in math and science. This online, multi-leveled interactive program that is research based teaching that yields true student learning and understanding. Gizmos incorporates many of Marzano’s Nine categories of effective instructional strategies to the classroom. Meta-analysis provides empirical evidence for the effectiveness of simulations. Gizmo's provides active engagement and interaction that mimic state testing questions and is proven by Texas Science Initiative that students using manipulations, technology, and inquiry perform better on tests. This one resource, Gizmos, has earned every major ed tech award!
Disappointingly, the grant our district had expired at the end of the 2017 school year. Our school budget was not allocated to maintain the $13,000 district price tag. Therefore our 6 fifth grade science teachers are asking for your support in funding each of their classrooms. This donation will directly impact the 310 5th grade students who are currently attending Fallen Timbers.
