Our media lab consists of old, patched-together, donated computers with frequent issues ranging from lag-time issues, loose pieces, discontinued software &firmware support, and the infamous "mood swings" in which our eMacs choose to work fine some days and drop into comas the next hour.

With 6 iPads (3 for each of our campuses) we could give our students the extra edge in getting up-to-speed with 21st century education standards.

Our school would get the IT department, university student interns, AmeriCorps VISTA technology coordinator, and free Apple workshops to utilize the iPads' full functionality.

Whether if it's recording sound to self-narrate stories or interviewing students from another country via Facetime, the iPad has a lot to offer our school of 290+ students.

ICS Georgia has students coming in from about 41 different countries.

Language barriers and the economic down-turn have left our students an unequal playing field when it comes to being globally competitive.

With a couple of iPads to supplement our lesson plans, we could give our students a boost to get back in the academic race towards excellence.

Why I Teach: The ICS focus is on educating the whole child, seeking to develop the innate curiosity of our students while celebrating cultural differences in a challenging, nurturing and intentionally multi-ethnic environment. With the dedication of our faculty and staff, the steadfast support of parents and the larger community, ICS has created a learning environment second to none despite the challenge of inadequate facilities, substandard equipment and non-competitive salaries. We fiercely protect our students' right to music, art, language, physical education and recess while insisting that they meet progress requirements in language arts, social sciences, mathematics and earth science.
