Raised: $0.00 ...Or, join the team and help spread the word! Our goal is to purchase six iPads, Proloquo2Go, Cases, and a surge protector for the classroom. The itemized list is as follows: - 6 iPads ($500 each) - 6 copies of Proloquo2Go ($189.99 each) - 6 Targus Versavu iPad Cases ($59.99 each) - 1 APC Surge Protector ($18.99) Our current goal is to buy one iPad, one copy of Proloquo2Go, and 1 Targus Versavu iPad case to begin this project. The total for one set is $749.98. The iPads will be used throughout the school day do develop vocabulary and speech skills. Students will press specific shapes on the iPad screen, which will project a word or statement from the iPad speaker. Lessons will begin with basic symbol-word associations. These associations will allow students to meet the most basic CAPA standards. Once students acquire the skills necessary to manipulate the application and project intended words, students will work towards higher level CAPA standards. Students mastering the use of Proloquo2Go will be able type complex sentences by just pressing a series of symbols. Students who master the use of Proloquo2Go can finally communicate with ease and begin working on higher level CAPA standards with the assistance of the iPad. The use of iPads with Proloquo2Go will completely change the dynamics of the severe autism classroom. After proper training and implementation, the severe autism classroom will be filled with learners. The communication device will decrease negative behaviors, therefore increasing the amount of time that students are on task. The iPad will allow students to express feeling and indicate times of frustration in an appropriate manner. Students will be communicating with teacher and staff what reinforcement they are working to achieve. They will also be able to make an appropriate signal that demonstrates their need of a break. This will create clear expectations, and students will become thoroughly engaged. Filling the communication gap with assistive technology will enable students to meet their IEP goals, and will allow them to reach their full potential in and after high school.
