Cheehoo is a word we frequently hear in Hawaii when we are really excited...and we are eager for our kids to shout it out as they become literate readers and writers! Balanced literacy is an integral part of being a successful communicator in both a written and oral means. Our class currently uses one personal laptop to listen to books through a public library system. We are looking to enrich their experience by providing students with access to a site that provides them with leveled readers online (RAZ kids: http://www.raz-kids.com/) and four desktop computers (http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=fddott13_id=inspiron-one-20-2020-aio=us=en=eep=2236&) that will allow them to listen to reading, read to self, and respond to reading...all activities that support a literate learner!
