I often find it difficult to get students motivated to write narratives, research topics, or respond to something they have read. I have seen the benefits of introducing students to Ipads and watched the students "take off" when you place an Ipad in their hands. For example, students become excited about researching Mississippi's Civil Rights movement, and they begin to write down information they learn. They can't wait to tell me what they learned, and how they are going to write about in their research paper. All the while they forget they are learning how to research, write, apply grammar skills, cite sources, and learn their state's history. Technology, such as Ipads, opens a door for students that often our school districts do not have the extra funds to provide our students. I believe that being able to place this invaluable tool in a students hands will unlock endless possibilities.
