IU9 is looking to begin offering a summer STEM Academy for students in Grades 4-8 throughout the 14 rural school districts we serve in Cameron, Elk, McKean, and Potter Counties.

We find it vital for our agency to help our students foster an early interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in order to become globally competitive for careers in these fields. Our students, living in the rural areas of our service region, do not have ample opportunities to explore these career fields, and so we are designing a week long summer camp. During this summer camp, we are offering one-day workshops in each field. These workshops will need to provide the necessary equipment and materials to be effective. We are looking to raise money that will allow us to purchase (10) Raspberry Pi kits, (10) HDMI monitors, (10) Lego WeDo Construction kits, provide t-shirts for each student participating, prizes for the end of the week celebration, and to bring in quality presenters for the opening and closing days of camp.

While we have other needs, the $2,500 we are looking to raise, can help us towards purchasing these above mentioned materials. We appreciate any assistance that we are given in reaching our goal!
