How can you help Club's gifted students be innovative and content smart at the same time? Help us purchase a SMART Board! Our classroom highly needs a SMART Board so my gifted students can engage in learning reading and math content in a highly meaningful, interactive, collaborative, and motivational manner. In teams my gifted students would like to use the SMART Notebook software (comes with SMART Board) in order to create interactive games for them to learn academic content and share their learning games with their peers on a monthly basis. First, each month my student teams would devise a specified number of reading and math questions (at varying levels of difficulty) for their games. By creating their questions, my students are functioning at the highest level of Bloom's Taxonomy. Next using SMART Exchange (an online resource with a wide variety of SMART Notebook game templates), each team would choose a game template and then insert their game questions within the template. After obtaining game approval, each team would share the game with a specified class and it would serve as a fun and meaningful monthly review. Of course, the classes will absolutely love playing the games on a SMART Board because of the user friendly interface, the touch sensitivity, the motivational sounds, wide screen picture, and entertainment value without even realizing that they are learning and reviewing content: also known as "painless learning." Now I ask you, "Wouldn't you rather engage in learning and remembering content in a game friendly format then only paper and pencil?" I know my students' answers would be "Oh Yes!" Please consider our plea and donate anything you can towards our project to make it a reality.
