The focus of this project, Igniting Minds, is to provide applicable technological resources to facilitate an increase in student achievement and to cultivate an intrinsic motivation to develop and display literacy skills across the curriculum. Reading is a passion of mine and nurturing this passion in my students is a personal motivator on a daily basis in the classroom. Thus, securing funds to purchase a set of five Kindle Fire devices will provide opportunities for students to establish and maintain ownership of their learning through reader choice. I believe providing my students with a popular 21st century tool will uncork their enthusiasm toward reading and lay the foundation for improving self-efficacy.
