Flip Camera In Every Classroom

Teachers will be using the Flip Camera in their lessons as a tool to enhance engagement, progress learning in all content areas, deepen technology skills and to document and share learning.
Students will use the flip camera to shoot, edit and publish their work to share with peers, parents and community members, as well as their teachers.
Purpose and Objectives of the Proposed Program
Some examples of how we are using the four Flip cameras we have now:
“I have been using the flip camera to record students reading aloud. This process allows students to hear themselves and any errors they make. Students also hear whether or not they are fluent readers and using expression and sentence phrasing. I normally record a student on their first reading of the day and we listen to the recording. Students then practice the same passage or poem two to three times. I record again on the fourth reading and we compare the improvements from the first to fourth reading.”

“In a student centered classroom with actively engaged learners sometimes capturing evidence of student learning amidst conferring writers and discussing readers can be a challenge. I’ve used Flip Videos in my class this year as a way to capture writers conferring. This gives me an opportunity to capture model conferences to highlight with the larger group, while also giving me a clip to sit down with individuals and discuss ways to improve.
These particular clips were taken after students wrote and presented persuasive essays. They provided me with a formative assessment of students’ current conferring abilities. Following this I was able to adjust my instructional focus for students providing specific quality feedback on one another’s writing-meeting their needs and impacting positive student progress. "
