School: Julington Creek Elem School, Jacksonville, FL
Planned By: Ingrid Griffin
Original Author: Ingrid Griffin, Jacksonville
This lesson will support our school's Multicultural Celebration, which is a school-wide annual event.

Students will research and select a foreign country that they are interested in. Using this information students will write out a newscaster's script containing facts about their country.

Using a green screen and the flip videos students will film each other pretending to be reporting from that country.

The film will be imported into iMovie and background images/videos will be used to enhance the movie and have the student appear to be in that country. Introduction title and ending slides will also be created.

Movies will be shown on the morning news during the Multicultural Celebration and posted on our school's website.

Technology is such a wonderful tool to enrich curriculum and it allows for students of all abilities to be successful.
Comments
I already have a green screen and the software necessary for this project. I just need the Flip Video cameras to make it happen.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
This is a wonderful project for enhancing a school-wide theme and teaching the students to research, write and perform in front of the camera.
Follow-Up
This will be an annual project for the students. Copies of the video can be made onto CDs so the students can have a keepsake of their project that they can share with their parents and grandparents.
Materials: Flip Video, CDs and DVDs
