Many schools take their students on week-long trips into nature. These trips can be enhanced simply by incorporating a Flip camera. Video recordings of students' reactions to once in a lifetime interactions with nature and video interviews of students upon returning to base camp from a nature hike can capture the excitement in such an extraordinary trip better than any still photo could compare.
Also, flip cameras make it extremely easy to upload videos onto blogs so they can be shared with the entire world (or a select group of parents who have been granted access) in seconds! Videos on blogs can show parents how much fun their student is having on a trip and organize the postings in chronological order so they know the order of events. On top of that, blogs are great ways to retain memories and share the fun.
If you've ever had to recruit students to go on these types of trips, as I have, these videos are an amazing trip promotion tool because they capture the feeling and the scenery so well!
This summer we are taking 45 students the The Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. We are planning to get several Flip Cameras and put them in the students' hands. We want to show other teachers, students, administrators and parents how much of a learning experience this trip is! At the end of each day, we will post comments, videos and picture onto our (free) blog!!
There are several bog websites that are free and educationally inclined, but I suggest EduBlogs: http://edublogs.org/
I would reccomend getting comfortable with the format of a blog prior to leaving for your excursion. |
