School: Uniontown Area High School, Uniontown, PA
Planned By: Tammy Marzano
Original Author: Tammy Marzano, Uniontown
Goal of the Project:
To connect current students (or education) with local businesses and create an understanding of the skills required to obtain jobs locally.

Description:
Uniontown High School is located in the heart of Fayette County, which is one of the most depressed areas in the state of Pennsylvania. Local businesses are having a hard time finding people to fill their jobs. Local economic development advisers have stressed the need for greater unity between business and education.

For this project, upperclassman in the Graphic Design/Multimedia course will conduct interviews of local business owners and economic development advisers. The goal will be for them to identify what skill sets students need upon graduation to obtain a position in rural Southwestern Pennsylvania.

Outcome:
Students will create commercials, public service announcements, and videos to be used in the local community and schools.

Timeline:
One nine week grading period.
