Seeing the World Through the eyes of a Veteran

The teacher will have a list of Ochiltree County Veterans and Deceased Veterans.
Students will be put into groups of four. They will prepare questions to ask the Veteran before interviewing him/her, or they may interview the relative of a deceased Veteran. They will be include the branch of service, years, any foreign countries in which the Veteran served, honors and recognitions, etc. Any other information that may help students understand the meaning and importance of serving your country may be asked by the students.

Someone will take pictures while they are interviewing and they will also bring back a photo of that person when they were in the service. It will be scanned at the school and placed in the teacher's file to be returned to the Veteran.
Students will work together to present the short story about their Veteran.
They will put the information together using a Power Point or Movie Maker presentation.

The top 4 will be chosen to present in the next Veterans Day Program.

Thank you notes will be written to the Veterans by each student and will be mailed to the Veteran. CD's or DVD's of the presentation will be burned and given to the Veterans.

Students will be using cameras, video cameras, scanners and Microsoft Office software to present their assignment. Not only will their technical skills improve, they may finish the lesson with a deeper gratitude and understanding of the Veterans of the USA.
