I plan on teaching my students how to use digital cameras, flip video recorders, scanners, and various computer software to make podcasts and a digital working portfolio. A digital portfolio consists of digital photographs, videos, and sound clips showcasing a student's work; including items of various degrees of perfection. A student might include a digital scan of a workbook page which showes areas which need improvement or a digital photograph of a completed art project. Each entry could then include a short video of why the child chose that item. I will take a month to teach the kids how to use the technology. Then, once each student has mastered the techniques, I will require the students to add at least 3 pieces each month. The portfolios will be shared with the school once finished. A copy will be downloaded onto CD at the end of the year for each student to keep.
Materials: Flip Video, Point and Shoot, CDs and DVDs, Flash/USB Drives, Tripods, Podcasting, Video Tools
