Holiday Video Editing and Production Lesson Plan Entry By Paulette Clapp From Brewer High School--79 Parkway South, Brewer, Maine 04412. LESSON PLAN TITLE: Holiday Wishes STANDARDS ADDRESSED: Collaboration, interview skills, public speaking, time management, incorporation of numerous technological tools GENERAL GOAL AND OBJECTIVE:Build Positive Student and Staff Connection REQUIRED RESOURCES: Students, Video Cameras, Editing Movie Program, Broadcast System ANTICIPATORY SET: Students and teacher discuss the various ways the December holidays are celebrated.
LESSON PROCEDURES: Students undertake the task of producing holiday videos for broadcast throughout the school building prior to the December vacation. 1.Students divide themselves into 2 groups A.Desire to interview students B.Desire to interview staff 2.Compile questions to conduct interviews 3.Prepare student filming schedule 4.Gather graphics to enhance videos 5.Students select individuals to interview 6.Camera rotation schedule compiled 7.Set date for the final interviews and filming 8.Videos uploaded to software editing program 9.Prepare video and audio clips 10.Make final editing adjustments then render video 11.Video evaluated by peers 12.Final changes made and rendered 13.Movies broadcast through school's TV system 14.Students recognized for their successful work CLOSURE (REFLECT ANTICIPATORY SET): Students and Staff discuss the success of the movie and how enjoyable the project became for the whole school. There were daily videos played on the broadcast system so individuals looked forward to each day's interviewees. ASSESSMENT:This project succeeded in bringing the students and staff together for the holidays. It was an extremely time intensive project that brought out the best in students' efforts. It also made the days prior to vacation an exciting time. We all wondered who would be on camera the next day. Thank you for the opportunity to submit this lesson plan for consideration.
