Students would use Ideapaint (paint on whiteboard paint) on their desks to create interactive drawings that they then capture with digital cameras. Using simple editing the pictures are turned into animations about key Biological concepts. This lesson plan is written with Biology in mind but could easily be addapted for any subject matter. Examples: Cellular respiration Cellular reproduction DNA replication Genetics Cell processes Human/animal physiology Photosynthesis Scientific Inquiry Summary of inquiry labs
Steps to complete project once concept has been taught. 1. Paint desks with idea paint. Teacher does this. 2. Teach drawing methods to focus on key elements. Students create storyboard of idea on tables for teacher approval. 3. Mount cameras to overhead support tripod.(these will be built by our schools construction class) 4. Teach camera functions. 5. Creation and inspiration... students create their drawings and photograph them in steps working in small teams. 6. Editing. Using Moviemaker student sequence pictures and add an audio track. 7. Publish to schools Youtube channel. 8. Reflection. Students watch final products and reflect on accuracy and improvements for next time.
Comments
The Idea paint would have an endless amount of classroom applications beyond this one lesson plan.
