BIRDS - Bird study through internet/IPAD. Videotape birds, study bird songs, paint birds. Video dialogue of students & role play as birds. Count birds, chart birds, record birds & bird sounds, hike in forest. TREES - Tree habitat on Internet/IPAD. Paint trees, bark & leaf rubbings, video of kids talking about trees, count trees, graph types, photos of trees & leaves, seeds. Video of kids being a growing tree, hike in forest. ANIMALS - Local study of animal habitats on internet/IPAD. Squirrels, raccoons, foxes, rabbits, possums, gophers, beavers, moles. Video of kids talking about animals, painting animals, counting animals. BUGS - Local study of insect habitats on internet/IPAD. Video of kids talking, counting, painting insects. AQUATIC LIFE - Local study of acquatic habitats on internet/IPAD. Frogs, fish, water plants, turtles. Video dialogue of students talking about water life, counting species, graph types seen, photos of aquatic life studied.
Each of our 5 areas studied will involve classroom themes, field trips, IPAD applications, school-wide posters presenting themes for all student levels to focus on and provide classroom themes of study. This will bring an exciting, challenging and meaningful perspective to our studies. |
