Students will begin this project by discussing topics that are important to teens, locate issues, and world issues. They will then divide them selves into groups to begin researching these topics or issues. While in there groups they each will select a role for a mock production company. They can focus on teen, local, or world issues or all three. They will review and discuss other talk shows or news shows that they want their show to be pattern like or perhaps a mixture of techniques.
A series of mini lessons will be taught throughout this project.
Students will learn how to create their storyboard and write a script. They will learn about camera angles and interviewing techniques. Once they have learned the basics, they will be given an opportunity to practice them before shooting their first show.
They will use Tool Factory Movie Maker to edit the show. They will learn how to upload the videos, add transitions, clipart or other still images, and add music. Students will also learn how to create and use voiceovers.
They will be responsible for getting guest for their show and securing all of the proper paper work for press releases if necessary. The production secretary will be responsible for keeping accurate records of all paperwork and shows.

Upload the video to the computer 8. Edit the video a. Add transitions b. Add opening and closing music c. Add voiceovers, credits, etc...
Once the project is complete students will burn them to disk and make them available for students, faculty and staff. This will be an ongoing project throughout the school years. Students will have an opportunity to show their show at our Parent Meeting and Year End Culminating Program. Other possible projects that make branch out from this will be an online magazine or podcasting show so that others in the community will have access to it.
This project will follow the South Carolina Curriculum Standards for Visual Art and Media Arts as well as the National Educational Technology Standards.

This activity allows for videos to be create in any discipline. Due to the students selecting topics, their content may vary. It may social studies, health, science, the arts, etc... English/Language arts will be included in all aspects of the videos. |
Follow-Up |
Students will take their storyboards and create animations serious for the web as well as podcasts.
Students will use their research to create magazines
Videos could be used for a school wide contest. Videos would be judged and displayed at a school program.
