Title: Letters in Our World Grade Level: Kindergarten Subject: Language Arts Objective: Students will create letter videos using Flip Cams and Windows Movie Maker. Materials: Letter Worksheets (attached) Clipboards Flip Cams Laptops with Windows Movie Maker Common Core Standards: K.R.F.1 Print Concepts: Demonstrate understanding of the organization and basic features of print. K.R.F.1.b Print Concepts: Recognize that spoken words are represented in written language by specific sequences of letters. K.R.F.1.d Print Concepts: Recognize and name all upper- and lowercase letters of the alphabet. K.R.F.3.a Phonics and Word Recognition: Demonstrate basic knowledge of letter-sound correspondences by producing the primary or most frequent sound for each consonant. K.W.6 Production and Distribution of Writing: With guidance and support from adults, explore a variety of digital tools to produce and publish writing, including in collaboration with peers. Procedures: 1. Students will be placed into partners. Partners will be given a clipboard with the letter worksheet (see attached). Students will take a “letter walk” around the school with their partner. Students are to find two words that begin with each letter of the alphabet to record on their letter worksheet. These words can be found on environmental print, in books, word walls, etc.. As the partners find their words they are to record the word on their worksheet and take a picture of it using their flip cam. They will continue this process for each letter of the alphabet. 2. Using Windows Movie Maker, students will import their pictures into a presentation. Students will add background music/sound effects to create their letter video.
